Straight Face

There is so much wrong going on in this rear-window graphic. I used to be gay, but JESUS set me FREE! Let's break it down:

I used to be gay
As far as I know, gay doesn't mean enslaved or anything else that needs any additional freedom, except of course the civil rights that are perpetually stripped from homosexuals (gay marriage comes first to mind). Guess who's first in line to spread the hate? Jeebus!

but JESUS set me FREE!
Though predictably all capital letters for emphasis (there are so many better ways to emphasize typeface, friends), the message is somehow lost on me. Jesus who? I kid; I know this graphic refers to the christian messiah, but it's not clear how or why this jesus would answer a question that nobody was asking (see above about how gay doesn't mean needing to be saved). The term gay itself aptly labels the gays from my observation; there are some pretty jolly, content, and proud homosexuals in my circles. From what do these people need saving? From all I can tell, I and them need only to be saved from bullshit like this in the back of automobile rear windows, and the people who hang it there.

By the by, Christina snapped that photo from her car. Here's the accompanying email text:
I looked this guy straight (no pun intended) in the eye at the stoplight and just shook my head.
You go, girl! You know, in your own passive-aggressive way. I wish I had one of those toy guns that ejects the Bang! flag, that said Now you're straight! or something like that.

If you didn't know already, the christians have these camps that try to turn the gays into the straights. Again, I don't know what compels them, but they try. What a perverse psychological world these people live in...it's sad.
